Geoffrey Marsh, ASA, MAAA

MCG's Founding President & Consulting Actuary

MCG’s President and Consulting Actuary Geoff Marsh (1961-2016) founded MCG in 2000 with the vision of providing Fortune 500 thinking to mid-size organizations. These companies tend to be underserved by the brokerage community and overcharged by larger consulting firms. Through the years, MCG has grown into a full-service actuarial consulting company that specializes in strategy development, design, implementation, and ongoing management of health and welfare benefit programs. more...

Brad Gauen, CLU, ChFC, FLMI

Managing Consultant

Brad Gauen brings over 30 years of health and welfare experience and a unique set of perspectives to the table when helping CFOs and HR executives solve insurance, healthcare cost and employee benefit program challenges. Brad has previously worked directly as an actuarial analyst at an insurance company, as well as with employee benefits consulting firms (Ernst & Young and Buck Consultants).  This broad experience allows him to provide clients with invaluable "experience from the other side."

His strategic approach to health care cost control in employer health plans is heavily influenced by actuarial insights and MCG’s strategic approach to helping clients manage their health and welfare costs. He works with organizations to develop and execute plan design, pricing and risk management solutions.

Brad has advised organizations such as Cabela’s, Tomkins, Cleveland Clinic, Alton Oshner Medical Foundation, Operating Engineers #3, Carpenters of Missouri, and Maritz.  Brad is a frequent speaker on health and welfare topics and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from Drake University.  He is also a Charted Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Robin Schwartz, CHES

Communications Consultant

Since 2011, Robin has grown MCG’s Communications practice from an optional add-on to an essential component of MCG’s client service. As a consultant, Robin meets with each client to gain an understanding of the culture and values specific to the organization, as well as how to integrate benefits communications into pre-existing communications channels. She taps her previous communications experience to develop and produce videos, newsletters, presentations, websites, and other promotional media. A Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Robin develops communications that educate and promote improved health behaviors among employee populations, with the goals of healthier, more productive employees and reduced health care claims for employers.

Robin got her start in communications at the age of 15, when she wrote and designed her first newsletter for the high school swim team. Her aptitude for writing led her to a self-designed BA degree in environmental journalism at the College of Wooster (Ohio), where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In 2016, she expanded on her education with a Master’s of Science in Health Education and Promotion through an online program at Walden University.

Formerly from Washington, DC, Robin has lived on the Central Coast since 2003. Prior to joining MCG, she ran her own business as an online triathlon coach and professionally raced triathlons. She enjoys being active as a “weekend warrior” and spending time with her family.
